Our Hobart, the Hobart we know and love. Together with my partner Lingling and good friends Lili, Ron, Karen and Owen we make this promise. Reintroduce 2 hours free parking in Council car parks, free Sunday parking, introduce Council childcare centres and free city bus loop. No high-rise or mega cruise ships. Make cycling and scooting safer. Ensure sensible redevelopment of Sandy Bay Campus.

Our city is growing and we need to help facilitate that growth rather than obstruct it. A vote for me is a vote to encourage the construction of the housing we need, improve parking accessibility and affordability and keep our CBD safe from antisocial behavior.
I'm focused on getting Council to stop wasting ratepayer's money with distractions and ideological vanity projects and get back to basics and focus on delivering the services we all need. Council needs to get back to focusing on roads, rates, and rubbish, not issues like nuclear policy or pill testing, which we have no power over.
I am a Hobart born accountant who wants to cap rates for 12 months and sort out the Council's spending so we get good value and little wastage. I believe UTAS should stay in Sandy Bay and I am a strong advocate for both small business and the arts. Parking and traffic need to be addressed so we can invigorate the CBD. I want to increase the number of parking spaces for people with a disability by 30% and explore replacing grassy median strips with native plants, herbs and wild-flowers. I would like to make Elizabeth Mall safe with good urban design.

As an experienced councillor and teacher, I stand to serve. I have a deep commitment to our beautiful city and work hard to enhance our home as a place to live, work and play by making sensible rational decisions with integrity. Action to tackle climate change; housing; parking; public transport, ferries and protecting our iconic mountain are some of my continuing goals.
A vote for Briscoe is for respecting differing opinions; preventing UTAS takeover of the CBD; saving the UTAS campus and escooter safety. Vote 1 Briscoe for deputy mayor & Louise Elliot for mayor for positive new leadership.
The world's changing fast. It's time for Council to take decisive action, so we can thrive through a changing climate and other challenges. Hobart is special. On Council I've supported us becoming a resilient, modern city, while protecting and nurturing our heritage, our natural areas and our artistic and business communities. People of all ages need to be housed, heard and connected, while being part of decisions for the future.
Please vote #1 for me as deputy mayor and councillor. Vote 1-5 Greens for thoughtful, collaborative, progressive city leaders. Ethical decisions - no conflict.
I'm a younger Hobartian working two jobs, desperately renting, and helping local orgs and friends where I can. What I'm not is a professional politician, business owner, or speculative landbaron. That's why I'm asking you to put me no. 2! Hobart's having growing pains, and to avoid the mistakes of the mainland, you and I need to create the changes we want to live in. Changes that are locally empowering and autonomous! My core four proposals are: homes for Hobartians; better buses; local economic democracy; and community empowerment. I have devoted a lot of my time since leaving India in 2012 to create several platforms that support people from all walks of life. I support Council policy on climate change. I established the popular Intercultural Sports League, which encouraged many people to play sports and enhance their mental and physical health. I support Hobart's expanding arts community since I am a working musician and comedian. I recommend free parking on weekends and after hours in some places because I support vibrant local businesses and markets. Your Hobart Independents.

Advocating for Council amalgamations and a refocus on the core business of Council. Personal ideologies and pet projects currently get prioritised rather than focusing on supporting the staff to deliver world class services to residents and the community.
I am seeking your support to refocus the Council back to its core job and begin the process of amalgamation that is much needed to provide the scale to better serve the community. My other priorities are ensuring good financial management, governance and supporting the on the ground staff to improve service quality.
I will vote against highrise towers. I will vote against the cable car. I will support the UTAS poll of electors result. I've been president of 'Hobart Not Highrise' since 2017, leading the successful campaign against highrise, protecting our heritage, our streetscapes, and our view-lines. We must protect the mountain & not destroy it. It's ours.
I have a small business background in computer software and a long history with community & sporting groups. I believe in openness, transparency, accountability, and honesty. I will always represent your views on your issues. Your Hobart Independents.

I have served on your Council for 4yrs. If re-elected I will continue to protect our natural environment and heritage, oppose inappropriate developments, and represent and promote the community poll results on the UTAS re-location. I will support Council's affordable housing and homelessness commitments & strategies to reduce emission and adapt to climate change, support and advocate for arts, cultural festivals, diversity and culture, small businesses and retailers. Advocate for micro-mobility lanes and barriers for e-scooters and keep rates to a minimum. Vote for Your Hobart Independents.
A thriving city with opportunities for all - that's what I stand for. I support prosperous local business, new homes, affordable parking, cycling infrastructure, addressing escooter safety risks, saving UTAS campus, protecting our environment, preserving our heritage treasures, and practical action to prepare for climate change. I want to deliver excellent value for ratepayers and form a trustworthy Council that listens. Hobart has always been my home, and I adore our city. For a balanced, logical, common-sense perspective - vote 1 Elliot for mayor and Briscoe for deputy. www.louiseelliot.org.
I'm a disability and mental health advocate passionate about creating a healthy, inclusive and prosperous city. I have an ambitious vision for Hobart of sustainable growth and innovation - supporting business and improving Council services. I'll implement real, systemic action on our city's biggest priorities, including housing, transport and cost-of-living. I'm a dedicated volunteer who'll work hard for the community and make government more open and accountable, driving best-practice integrity reform and climate action - preparing our city for a brighter future with Your Hobart Independents.
I've been on HCC since 2018, and I've got results with homelessness, housing, health and human rights. To date I've achieved: free tampons in public toilets, stopping whole-home conversions to AirBnB, collaborating to establish a 24/7 drop-in centre for homeless folks, drug law reform, improving disability access + more.
In my second- and last- term, I will work on the housing crisis, improve public and active transport, make public spaces and events inclusive for all, and always advocate for the needs of the poor and marginalised in our community first. Check out www.jaxfox.com for more info.

Daniel Geng arrived in Tasmania fifteen years ago and is now a proud Australian citizen. Daniel completed his BA in Politics and Social Science at UTAS in 2020. Daniel is nominating for representation as an independent councillor and feels this is a perfect way for him to contribute to his local community. He is committed to bringing a fresh voice to Council and is hardworking, honest, caring and a good listener. He is passionate about supporting community issues especially affordable housing, job seekers and apprentices, art and culture, childcare and volunteers.
What began in 2021 as a response to the UTAS masterplan for Hobart became 'Mountain to the Sea': my alternate vision for Hobart City and the greater Hobart area. A vision I wish to share, discuss and grow.
My research in urban design and my experience in public transport, security, retail and real estate over the last 30 years gives me a practical understanding of Hobart City and its suburbs. I offer tangible solutions, exciting and practical innovations and projects that will see Hobart evolve into a more sustainable, equitable, liveable, connected and inspiring place for us all to live.
The Greens have pursued the vision to create a sustainable city delivering solutions to the housing crisis, next level climate action, greater mobility options and creating a healthy, green, creative & inspiring place to live.
Our achievements include: first capital city to declare a climate & biodiversity emergency, banning single-use plastics, innovation in waste management & delivering the Sustainable Hobart Action Plan. As councillor & Lord Mayor, I'll continue to look at the big picture & put people, environment & innovation at the forefront. For a sustainable future vote Greens 1-5.

I am a long-term Hobart small business owner having always lived and worked here. I have never been a member of a political party and want to independently represent Hobart.
My priorities for Hobart are saving the UTAS campus; a city loop bus service; improved parking options; rate rises in line with CPI and more affordable housing. Hobart needs new voices who will listen and be accessible and accountable to the ratepayers, residents, and businesses. Visit my website for more details.
Actions speak louder than words. A lifelong and diverse involvement in Hobart's local & business community qualifies me to be Lord Mayor & councillor. I'm best known for my restoration and revival of the State Cinema and was awarded Citizen of the Year 2016 for my "outstanding contribution to the quality of life in Hobart".
My vision respects all of the community, the environment & our heritage and encourages quality, sustainable development. I will eliminate the waste, debt, indecision & stick to the core issues. Vote for change with a strong, independent and experienced leader.
I'm a unique, independent candidate. I've driven homelessness initiatives through volunteer advocacy, and been Hobart's Citizen of the Year 2020.
With experience and qualifications in hospitality, retail, disability care, and the arts, my ideas for local business are broadly informed. I'm a low-income single mum, and renter, and believe we need diversity at the Council table. I have strong people skills, empathy and progressive, affordable and proven ideas for housing, climate, transport, accessibility, accountability. A Hobart where together we can all thrive - with Your Hobart Independents.
I'm a health professional working in stroke research at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. I want to be part of a fair, transparent and sustainable Council. I will be a future-focused leader addressing the changing climate, improving the housing and homelessness crisis and combating traffic with an active transport solution.
Active transport builds happy, healthy communities. Our city will flourish when people of all ages can safely cycle, roll or stroll to school, work, the shops or to fun times. This allows those who need to drive better access to the city. Vote 1-5 Greens.
I have lived in Hobart for 14 years. I used to work at Coles Sandy Bay as a checkout operator, and was an Australian Army reservist. Now I am a driver testing professional and running my small business called Beyond School of Driving aiming to help people from overseas drive safely and legally on our roads. I have demonstrated that positive attitude and hardworking can make a difference. I have a passion in making our city better through fixing the housing crisis, enhancing road safety, and easing traffic congestion, etc. I do not support UTAS move.
I'm a founding member of the Save UTAS group and I am opposed to the UTAS plan to destroy the Sandy Bay campus and relocate into the already congested CBD. I will be voting no in the elector poll.
I want eScooters off our footpaths. They are dangerous, and the haphazard parking is a disaster for people with mobility issues who need clear footpaths. I also work for Hobart City Mission and see the effects of the housing crisis on a daily basis. I will work to reduce the number of vacant houses and Airbnbs in Hobart, and to continue Council support for homeless people.
I have been lucky to live in Hobart all my life and want to contribute to Hobart's future success. I am in my third year of law at UTAS. I have worked in both public and private sectors. I understand the needs of local families and small business and will advocate for all people. Council needs to get back to basics and focus on approving more housing developments, investing in infrastructure, parking, and green spaces, and keeping rates low. I don't support the UTAS move or the Sandy Bay campus redevelopment.
Vote 1 James McKee for alderman for a safer, more accessible and prosperous Hobart.
Having been born in Burnie, grown up in Launceston, and then moved to Hobart at the age of 16, I am deeply passionate about all that our beautiful state has to offer. As the capital city, I believe Hobart has the potential to shine as a world-renowned location.
Like many Tasmanians, I have 'done my time' in bigger cities before coming back to this wonderful place. I love Hobart, and it's my dream to see it become a thriving, sustainable, and growing city that makes full use of our unique characteristics and environment.
I'm a climate scientist and I want to work with the community to create a sustainable and resilient Hobart. We can encourage cycling and walking, expand the ferry network, get light rail running and help people to switch to electric vehicles. We can improve the energy efficiency of our homes, get more solar panels onto rooftops and create more green spaces. Together, we can build a city that is more liveable, more vibrant, happier and healthier. I'm a genuinely independent candidate, who will take an open, collaborative and evidence-based approach. Visit www.zerocarbonhobart.org to learn more.
Community, transport, recreation. I'm a paramedic, nurse & health researcher. Husband & father. Mountain biker & bush walker. I want to see Hobart thrive, to be as liveable as possible with more housing combined with better transport, footpaths, parkland, community sports, family facilities & thriving small businesses.
I'll embrace technology to improve mobility around the city & reduce emissions. I'll promote phasing out Council's non-electric fleet & better infrastructure for electric vehicles. Elect me for a modern approach. Creativity, imagination & big ideas. www.ryanposselt.com.
I've worked hard as your Lord Mayor over the past four years to deliver balanced budgets, low rates, action on climate change, support for ferries, and reduction of plastics and food waste. Council approved a record number of inner-city apartments and provided help for the homeless. We've also protected our mountain and heritage from poorly designed developments.
Hobart is thriving, and you can count on me to continue delivering positive leadership for a sustainable future. If re-elected I'll focus on transport, affordable housing and great neighbourhood facilities - Your Hobart Independents.

I've been an owner of hospitality businesses in southern Tasmania for almost 30 years and will bring the voice of creative small business to Council. I want to see action on preparing the city for the effects of climate change and to support better transport options & affordable housing. I believe this city should be a safe and supportive place for all people. I want to protect the organ pipes and do not support the cable car proposal. I believe in protecting the city's heritage and all the elements that make it unique including its vibrant art and music scene. Your Hobart Independents.
I stand for integrity & evidence-based decision making, collaborating with all perspectives for community benefit. I've been on Council since 2018 & chair the Community, Culture & Events Committee. I'll continue to advocate for: innovative increases in housing via medium-density & affordable housing, sustainable & diverse public transport, supporting strategies that reduce emissions & addresses climate change, advancing the arts, Hobart as a science hub & gateway to Antarctica & appropriate development that maintains the unique aspects of what makes Hobart special. Your Hobart Independents.
I am Duncan Spender, CEO of Oysters Tasmania and former CEO of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania.
Council should be boring, and not cost ratepayers so much. I will focus on the boring basics - like parks, parking, roads, paths, rubbish, and stormwater. By focussing on the basics, your rates can be cut by $200. You can see my plan to cut rates at www.duncanspender.au. I will be a professional, collegial councillor, and make planning decisions in the interests of current ratepayers. For a professional Council focussed on the boring basics and lower rates, please vote 1 Duncan Spender.

I am passionate about healthy, connected, empowered communities of all ages & abilities. I own a small business in Hobart, embracing local, sustainable shopping. As a project manager, working across government, sport, education, & non-profit sectors for 20 years, I specialise in community development, diversity/inclusion & safety.
I want nipaluna/Hobart to be the best city in the world - a clean, green, safe city that is active & accessible, with great transport options & thriving economy; a city that values the traditional owners of our land & celebrates arts & culture. Vote 1-5 Greens.
A vote for me is a vote for a voice of reason. I am a politically independent and proven leader who will keep Council focused and ensure transparency in decision making.
I will champion progressive, sustainable development that creates jobs. I will deliver innovative solutions to our housing crisis and fight for affordable rates and rate relief for seniors and concession card holders. I support a vibrant arts culture and community activities that bring us together. Significantly, I have consulted with stakeholders to develop a solution that delivers a UTAS campus at Sandy Bay and in the city.
Ex-Clarence alderman, a no-nonsense informed female voice, I say no to a UTAS takeover, yes to a cable car & an iconic stadium for what it would offer our city for sport, the arts, music and Dark MOFO. I'd push light rail/busway, underground transport hub, increased underground parking in developments. I'd fight for sporting clubs & better facilities, an age friendly city, safe and accessible for all. I support sustainable development - solar, water storage & open green space, retention of historical facades & sympathetic builds. Back to basics leadership www.linkedin.com/in/debra-thurley-gaicd-4aa5165.

I have 30+ years of international experience working in the manufacturing industry, tourism, education, leadership training and academia from Europe via Antarctica, USA to Australia. I am standing for election to Hobart City Council to advocate for action on the housing crisis, climate change and to move forward in a future focused way. I want to see Hobart become a place where everyone has a safe, warm home, and a city that is accessible to all.
I am a young person with disabilities. As a youth and housing advocate, social worker and the recipient of the 2022 Young Achievers Award for Leadership, I ask you to allow me to put these skills to use in Council by pushing forward and to help bring in a bright, green future. Vote 1 - 5 Greens.
Marti Zucco as Lord Mayor will lead Council back to basics, restructuring Council including defined roles for elected members. The HCC has become too entrenched in issues beyond its control. Parking, traffic, transport, planning and development, housing and rental solutions should be the priorities rather than a Council focused on state or national issues. This is impacting on basic infrastructure from gutters, potholes, storm covers all being neglected. The heart of the CBD is under threat and must be reset. Ratepayers deserve better. For experience and common sense vote 1 Marti Zucco.
The City of Hobart held a public meeting on Wednesday 11 May 2022 in response to a petition regarding the relocation of the University of Tasmania's (UTAS) Sandy Bay campus. Following the public meeting, a petition was submitted to the Council seeking an elector poll.
In accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 (“the Act”), as the petition included over 1,000 signatures from electors in the Hobart municipal area, the Council is required to conduct an elector poll. The Act provides that an elector poll held in conjunction with an election is to be conducted by the Electoral Commissioner.
As the substance of the elector poll primarily involves entities independent of the Hobart City Council:
The Electoral Commissioner has then modified this information to provide a consistent structure across both cases.
Do you support the University of Tasmania’s proposal to relocate the Sandy Bay campus into Hobart’s central business district?
The University must invest in new facilities so it can provide the best possible education and research for current and future generations.
Relocating into the central business district (CBD) will deliver contemporary, state-of-the-art facilities for students and staff, make higher education more accessible to more Tasmanians and secure the University’s financial future.
The relocation of the Sandy Bay Campus will also:
Saying YES to the University city move will help every student and staff member be their best and help make our wonderful city of Hobart even stronger. For more information supporting the proposal visit www.utas.edu.au/southern-transformation.

The University’s Sandy Bay campus, gifted by the Tasmanian government, is a major student drawcard. Sandy Bay offers free student parking, public transport links, proximity to sport grounds, natural green spaces and has room for expansion.
A University report5 shows a majority of Sandy Bay buildings are sustainable and can be refurbished.
The relocation of the Sandy Bay Campus will also:
