If you are unable to vote in person, either early or on polling day, you may be eligible to vote by post. To apply, you must complete and return the application form below. Applications close at 4 pm on Friday 26 April 2024.

Postal ballot packs will be sent to approved applicants commencing Monday 15 April 2024.

For electors who are interstate or overseas at the time of the election, we recommend you consider using our Telephone Assisted Voting service, which will be available from 10 am on Monday 29 April.

How

  1. You apply for a postal vote.
  2. We check your enrolment and send you a ballot pack.
  3. You record your vote and post it back.

When

Apply as soon as possible. Remember, postal services can be slow.

Applications close 4 pm Friday 26 April 2024.

Receiving your voting pack

Ballot papers can only be printed when all candidates are known, after the close of nominations. Postal ballot packs will be sent to approved applicants from Monday 15 April 2024, following the announcement of candidates.

The Australia Post service standard for delivery of priority mail is up to 2 business days in Tasmania and up to 4 business days for interstate.

If you haven't received your pack by Thursday 2 May, you may want to consider voting at a pre-poll centre or at a polling place on polling day. Those with difficulty accessing a polling place, can attend a polling place in a vehicle (with or without a postal voting pack) and we can assist you with car-side voting.

Returning your vote

You must record your vote before 6 pm on polling day, Saturday 4 May.

We can receive returned postal votes until 10 am Tuesday 14 May.

Like ordinary and pre-poll voting, postal voting maintains the secrecy of your vote.
