The aim of the Tasmanian Electoral Commission is to provide all Tasmanians with a convenient opportunity to exercise their right to vote and to ensure that their votes are counted accurately and transparently.

The Commission undertakes the conduct of elections and referendums, public electoral information programs and more.


Central Highlands By-election

Following the resignation of Deputy Mayor Andrew Downie, a councillor by-election is being held for the Central Highlands Council.

Polling period closes 10am, Tuesday 7 March 2017.



Next Legislative Council elections -

Saturday 6 May 2017 for the divisions of Launceston, Murchison & Rumney.

Legislative Council elections are held for each division once every 6 years.
