2024 State Election





Information for candidates

  Nominations have closed.

If you wish to stand as a candidate in this election, nominations will be open from the issue of the writ, 6 pm Wednesday 21 February 2024, and close at 12 noon on Thursday 29 February 2024.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the nomination form and deposit are received by the returning officer (or the Commissioner for party nominations only) before the close of nominations.

Members will be elected to serve a term of office of up to 4 years.

Nomination forms

Candidates can be nominated in 3 ways:

Nominated by a party

  Party nomination form [PDF, 99KB]

The party nomination form enables a registered party to nominate its candidates for a division. The party nomination form includes two parts, which must be completed and lodged:

  • Part A – Party nomination form to be completed and signed by the registered officer of the party; and
  • Part B – Candidate consent – one is to be completed and signed by each candidate nominated by the party for the division.

Nominated by a group

  Group nomination form [PDF, 115KB]

The group nomination form enables candidate(s) who wish to appear as a group on a House of Assembly ballot paper, to be nominated. The group nomination form includes three parts, which must be completed and lodged:

  • Part A – Group nomination form to be completed and signed by the group co-ordinator; and
  • Part B – Nominator's form to be completed and signed by at least 100 electors enrolled for the division; and
  • Part C – Candidate consent and declaration - one is to be completed and signed by each candidate nominated by the group for the division.

Individual nominations

  Individual nomination form [PDF, 85KB]

The individual nomination form enables you to be nominated as an ungrouped candidate for election to the House of Assembly. The individual nomination form includes two parts, which must be completed and lodged:

  • Part A – Nominators – to be completed and signed by at least 10 electors enrolled for the division; and
  • Part B – Candidate consent and declaration – one is to be completed and signed by the candidate nominated for the division.

Nominations open from the issue of writ, 6 pm Wednesday 21 February 2024.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the nomination form and the $400 deposit are received by the returning officer before the close of nominations 12 noon Thursday 29 February 2024.

A party nomination form can be lodged with either the returning officer or the Electoral Commissioner during the nomination period.
