You will need to vote in TWO separate elections this May.
You need to vote in the Legislative Council elections on Saturday 4 May as well as the upcoming and separate Federal election. Remember, voting is compulsory. Your vote can shape your state.
The Commission has approved a new ballot paper configuration to trial at the 2019 Legislative Council elections. The new configuration shows both instructions above the list of candidates. The Commission agreed to trial the new configuration in light of the broad concerns in relation to the configuration of the Hobart City Councillor ballot paper.

New in Feb 2019: The TEC has updated its policy on candidate expenditure with changes to the reporting of re-used election material.
New in Apr 2019: Following amendments to the Electoral Act 2004, newspapers may now publish electoral advertising and commentary on polling day. The Candidate booklet has been amended to reflect these changes.
